Springing Forward!

For anyone living in a four season environment, it's the same long drawn out winter days that leave us dreaming and longing for the first signs of spring. I know for me, I keep an eagle eye on the areas of my gardens where I know my daffodil and tulip bulbs are planted, even though there's still a few inches of snow on the ground. It's that wishful thinking that the snow melted since the last time I looked out the window an hour prior. As much as we couldn't wait to see the first snowfall in winter, I can't wait to see the first sign of buds on the trees, the green up of our grass and first blooms of spring. As spring moves forward, the stunning and vibrant shades of green seem to come alive as nature emerges once again. A refresh and rebirth for nature and for us. Whether coastal or in the inland lakes and woodlands, there is just something special about spring in Maine. Taking long drives through the lush green countryside or towards the coast gives you that much needed uplift out of the confinement that winter left behind. The word I think of to describe spring is "forward" as we walk away from one season into the next.
